An estimated 1,185,053 people  in the US are either living with,  or are in remission from,  leukemia, lymphoma or myeloma.  Over a MILLION people...  that's just crazy...  and I'm one of them.

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) is the largest voluntary cancer research agency specifically focused on finding cures and better treatments for blood cancer patients. They have the scope and scale to fund many projects at the same time, and support hundreds of cancer scientists around the world. Hopefully one of those scientists will be brilliantly creative and discover something magnificent to aid in the cure and treatment of blood cancers.

I was diagnosed with Waldenstroms Macroglobulinemia -- a rare form of non-hodgkins lymphoma -- December 16, 2008.  

I did my first 1/2 marathon - The Long Branch Half Marathon - 4 months after finishing my first round of treatments. May 1st I will do my seventh half marathon, back where I started, at the shore for the NJ Half! I am again raising money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society through Team In Training!  

Each half marathon has been remarkable - emotional, fun, tough, taxing, and fabulous. The countless hours and miles of training, and the 13.1 miles on race day affirm and bolster my courage, determination, perseverance, strength, positivity and health! Raising money for the LLS makes it extra special to me.  

It boggles my mind, and sometimes crushes my heart, when I imagine people with no cure and no possibility of treatment. Your donation will help fund treatments that save lives every day; like immunotherapies that use a person's own immune system to kill cancer. How great is that???!!!

You are all fantabulous! You are some of the best people on the planet! I know we can meet my fund-raising goal and surpass it. I chose $7,000 as my goal to celebrate the seven years I've survived and thrived since being diagnosed with WM!
